FAQ about GRE

Q1:Is my Japanese driver's license all right to take GRE?
A1. You cannot take the test only with the ID. You are required to bring additional ID as a secondary ID. In this case, “Confirmation of Identity Letter” issued at the educational institutions or "Your school ID" with a photo and signature will be required.
Q2:Can I use my credit card with my photo as the required ID?
A2. No, you can't.
Q3:What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my test appointment after the designated deadline?
A3. Your test fee will not be refunded. But you are allowed to schedule another appointment within the month if you pay the test fee once again.
Q4:After the test is over, can I cancel my score?
A4. You are able to view your score after the test and have an option to either view or cancel. Once you choose the option of "cancel", your score will never be reported or mailed to you. If you choose the option of “view”, you are not allowed to cancel your score.
Q5:How long will it take before my score is mailed to me?
A5. The Official Score Report will be mailed to you by ETS in the United States. We cannot tell exactly how long it will take. It is usually the case that candidates receive their scores three or four weeks after the test date. Please note that it takes much longer before your score reporting depending upon the season. For your score delay matters, please contact ETS directly at +1-609-771-7670.
Q6:How long will my GRE score be valid?
A6. Your GRE score is valid for five years. Your past 5 years' scores are reported to you.
Q7:Can I send my best score to the institutions I apply for ?
A7. No, you can't. Your scores in the past 5 years will be reported to you as well as institutions.
Q8:What if I did not choose any institutions on the test day or need to send more than 5 institutions later?
A8. Please fill out "Additional Score Request Form" in the GRE Information Bulletin and send the document to ETS by fax or mail. Please note that you are required to pay the fee to ETS even though you chose less than four institutions on the test day. As of this timing, the additional score report fee is US$15 per institution.
Q9:Will you tell me what to do if I cannot find the institutions I apply for on the test day?
A9. Then, you can ask the test center administrator to provide you with "Score Report Request Form". You can send your score up to four institutions for free of charge on the test day.
Q10:Can I hear my score by phone?
A10. Yes, you can. Please contact ETS-GRE "Phone Services for Score" at +1-609-771-7290. When you make a phone call to ETS, you are requested to inform them of your "Registration number" on the Official Score Report.
Q11:Will you tell me what number I should fill in for the Registration Number on "Additional Score Report Request Form"?
A11. The registration number is shown on your official score report form. We regret that RRC cannot search the number for you. If you are not sure about the number, please leave the portion blank and send it to ETS.
Q12:Will you tell me about GRE retake policy?
A12. You may take the GRE General Test only one time per calendar month and only five times per testing year within any 12-month period.
Q13:Will you tell me about GRE test structure?
